On February 6, 2014, corvette Stoiky of project 20380 built by Severnaya Verf OJSC for Russia’s Baltic Sea, set off for the sea to undergo the second part of the sea trials, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.

The ship is supposed to join the Baltic Fleet in the end of the second quarter of 2014.

Stoiky is the third serial corvette of project 20380. The lead vessel of the series is Steregushchy delivered to the Baltic Fleet in 2007. The first serial vessel, Soobrazitelny, was delivered on October 14, 2011, while Boiky, the second one, joined the fleet on May 16, 2013.

Corvettes of project 20380 are over 100 m long, displacement – 2,000 t, maximum speed – up to 27 knots, range – 4,000 miles. Ships of Steregushchy class are conceptually new in terms of their military and combat characteristics.

The 20380 Project corvette was designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau. The multipurpose Steregushchy class corvette of 20380 project is intended for littoral zone operations, engagement of enemy submarines and surface ships, and gun support of landing operations. Stealth technology was widely used during construction of the ships, as well as 21 patents and 14 new computer programs. Newest physical field reduction solutions were applied too. As a result, designers considerably reduced the ship's radar signature thanks to hull architecture and fire-resistant radar-absorbent fiberglasses applied in tophamper's design.
