In January 2014, Tallinna Sadam handled 2.79 mln t of cargo (+1%, year-on-year), the company’s press center says.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo hit 2.14 mln t (+3.5%). Container throughput was steady at 19,100 TEUs. Transshipment of ro-ro cargo climbed by 5.3% to 294,000 t. Transshipment of dry bulk cargo plunged by 32.5% to 155,000 t.
In January, the port serviced 538,500 passengers (+2.4%) including 455,100 passengers travelling by Tallinn-Helsinki (+2.7%) and 70,900 passengers – by Tallinn-Stokholm route.
The port of Tallinn is the forth largest port in the Baltic sea after the ports of St. Petersburg, Primorsk and Ust-Luga. It comprises four port areas: Muuga, Old City Harbour, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa.
In 2013, the port’s throughput fell by 4.2% to 28.2 mln tonnes. Passenger throughput of Tallinna Sadam climbed by 4.5% to 9.2 mln. Net profit of Tallinna Sadam surged by 21% to EUR 39.7 mln.
