Throughput of port Liepaja (Latvia) down 31.9% to 404,100 t in Jan'14
In January 2014, throughput of port Liepaja (Latvia) dropped by 31.9%, year-on-year, to 404,100 t, IAA PortNews was told by the seaport authority. Transshipment of grain fell by 10% to 219,500 t, timber – by 36.4% to 31,800 t, construction materials – by 52% to 26,500 t, while transshipment of oil product increased by 5.3% to 19,500 t, crude – by 21.9% to 14,200 t.
The port’s container throughput declined by 13% to 254,000 TEUs. Transshipment of ro-ro cargo was 6% down to 2,194 units. The port’s passenger throughput declined by 5% to 3,049 passengers. The number of calls dropped by 22% to 107 vessels.
