Konecranes receives an order for two large industrial cranes for the Philippines from Siemens AG

Konecranes received an order for two heavy-duty industrial cranes from Siemens AG in December 2013. The cranes will be installed at the 414 megawatt (MW) San Gabriel combined cycle power plant in Batangas Bay in the Philippines. The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 370 and 80 tons, and will be delivered in autumn 2014. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order, the company said in its press release.

Konecranes has delivered industrial cranes to the same customer and power plant before. The plant is planned to be extended and lifting equipment is needed to the new unit. The cranes will be used in the turbine hall during the construction phase and afterwards primarily when turbines are serviced.

“We are very pleased about this order,” says T K Mak, Konecranes’ General Manager, Industrial Cranes, Southeast Asia. “Konecranes’ industrial cranes equipped with TRUCONNECT® Remote Services were a perfect fit for our customer’s requirements. The customer’s good experience with the equipment we supplied earlier was also an important factor in securing this latest order.”

Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring and Reporting provides customers with data on actual crane usage and enables them to optimize crane maintenance activities and highlight crane maintenance and application compliance. Based on data provided by the system, customers can make informed decisions on how best to manage their equipment maintenance investments and productivity.

Konecranes recently opened an office in Manila. Once the new office is fully operational, it will provide locally based support and service for customers across the Philippines.
