Sea port of Saint-Petersburg allocated RUB 33.7 mln for environmental programmes in 2013
In 2013 JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SPSP”) transferred 33.7 mln. rubles for the implementation of the environmental programme, the company says in the press release.
Main part of the funds was transferred for the preservation of water resources. The company monitors water protection and coastal areas, controls quality of environmental water, provides maintenance of water treatment facilities. Observing sanitary requirements and legislation the company performed treatment of waste water on the constant basis.
As the result of the implementation of the programme aimed at decrease of negative impact on atmosphere in 2013 the port reduced significantly the emissions into atmosphere – by 22% in comparison with 2012.
In order to ensure safety of handling of production and consumption wastes the company maintained regularly control, removal and disposal of wastes, monitored the areas of waste accumulation. Within the reporting period design works for the modernization of environmental facilities were carried out.
JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2013 the turnover of JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” amounted to 7.8 mln. tons of cargoes.
