Icebreaking assistance provided to 467 vessels in the Gulf of Finland
From the beginning of the winter navigation, icebreaking assistance in the Gulf of Finland has been provided to 467 vessels. According to the data provided by the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency as of February 24, 2014, 14 icebreakers are located in the Gulf of Finland today including 5 icebreakers involved in escorts: 2 icebreakers operate at Big Port St. Petersburg (Semen Dezhnev, Yury Lisyansky), 1 icebreaker – at ports of Vyborg and Vysotsk (Kapitan Izmailov,) Saint-Petersburg at Ust-Luga and Yermak at Primorsk.
Ice navigation restrictions have been changed for ports Vyborg, Vysotsk and Primorsk (up to Ice2 class). As for vessels calling at Big Port St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga, thy should have ice class Ice1 and above.
