By the order of the Commander-in-Chief of RF Navy, the lead counter-terror boat of project 21980 built by OJSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky was named P-104 Nakhimovets, the shipyard says.
Counter-terror boat Grachonok, which joined the Baltic Fleet, is currently based in Kronshtadt. The name was proposed by the Saint-Petersburg Union of graduates from Suvorov’s military schools, Nakhimov’s naval schools and cadet’s colleges to commemorate the 70-year anniversary of the Nakhimov Naval School.
According to the proposal, the next boats of project 21980 can be named “Suvorovets”, “Cadet” etc.
Zelenodolsk Plant commenced the construction of Grachonok-series counter-terror boats in 2008. IN 2009, the lead vessel of the series joined RF Navy. Three serial vessels joined the Black Sea fleet. In 2013, RF Navy took the delivery of the fifth boat intended for the Caspian flotilla. The shipyard is currently building two vessels of the project.
Tatarstan-based OJSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky, specializes in the construction of warships and passenger high-speed vessels. The enterprise is managed by AK BARS HOLDING.
