The application to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) to extend Russia’s continental shelf in the Arctic will be completed and ready for submission this autumn and it can be submitted in the spring of 2015. According to the Kremlin press center this was announced by RF Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoy at the meeting with RF President Vladimir Putin dedicated to the inclusion of an enclave in the Sea of Okhotsk in Russia’s continental shelf and application to CLCS to extend Russia’s continental shelf in the Arctic.
Mr Donskoi also noted cooperation with the Foreign Ministry and the Defence Ministry of Russia.
“ During our work on the Sea of Okhotsk application, the Foreign Ministry organised consultations and talks with our Japanese colleagues, during which we settled all of the issues. As for the Arctic application, the Foreign Ministry is playing a big part here too, and we are working in close coordination with the Ministry”, Sergei Donskoy said.
The UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf has recently approved Russia’s application concerning the enclave of international waters in the Sea of Okhotsk.
