In January-March 2014, Russia seaports handled 144.5 mln t of cargo (+5.7%, year-on-year), says press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo hit 63 mln t (+13%) including 25.8 mln t of coal (+16.7%), 11.2 mln t of containerized cargo (+7.8%), 5 mln t of grain (up 4.5 times), 3.3 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+17%), 1.7 mln t of cargo carried by ferries (+9.9%), 1.1 mln t of timber (+1.2%) and 1 mln t of metal scrap (+45.4%). Transshipment of ferrous metal fell to 6.2 mln t (-1.2%), ore – to 1.3 mln t (-23.4%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo was steady at 81.5 mln t (+0.7%) including 47.3 mln t of crude oil (-6.4%), 30 mln t of oil products (+12.6%) and 3.3 mln t of liquefied gas (+6.9%).
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 116.7 mln t (+8.1%), import cargo - 9.8 mln t (-9.9%), transit cargo - 12.2 mln t (+10.7%), coastal trade cargo - 5.8 mln t (-15.1%).
Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 8.7 mln t of cargo (-18.2%, year-on-year) including 6.2 mln t of dry cargo (+11.6%) and 2.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (down 2 times). The port of Murmansk handled 5.8 mln t (-14.8%), Arkhangelsk - 1 mln t (-7.4%), Varandey - 1.4 mln t (+16.6%).
The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 51.9 mln t (+3.7%) including 20.2 mln t of dry cargo (+11.1%) and 31.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-0.6%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 16.6 mln t (+24.9%), Big Port St. Petersburg - 14 mln t (+13.2%), Vysotsk - 3.9 mln t (+4.8%), Primorsk - 13.9 mln t (-17.1%), Kaliningrad - 3.3 mln t (-12.6%).
Throughput of Azov - Black Sea ports climbed to 43.8 mln t (+8.6%, year-on-year) including 14.2 mln t of dry cargo (+12.5%) and 29.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+6.8%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 30.1 mln t (+5.2%), Tuapse - 5.1 mln t (+30.9%), Taman - 3 mln t (up 1.8 times), Rostov-on-Don - 1.9 mln t (+7.9%), Azov - 0.9 mln t (+38.5%), Yeisk - 0.6 mln t (+44.9%), Kavkaz - 1.1 mln t (-17.5%), Temryuk - 0.3 mln t (down 2 times).
The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 1.7 mln t of cargo (-13.7%) including 0.6 mln t of dry cargo (-24.7%) and 1.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-6.9%). Throughput of port Makhachkala declined by 5.5%, Astrakhan – by 28%, Olya – by 38.5%.
Seaports of the Far East Basin handled 38.4 mln t (+14.1%) inc 21.8 mln t of dry cargo (+17.1%) and 16.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+10.4%). Port Vostochny handled 13.5 mln t (+12.8%), Vanino - 6.2 mln t (+17.8%), Nakhodka - 4.9 mln t (+15.6%), Vladivostok - 3.8 mln t (+16.4%), De-Castri - 2 mln t (+31.8%), Posiet - 1.6 mln t (+27.7%), Prigorodnoye - 4.4 mln t (-0.1%).
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
