FESRC' Dalzavod Yard launches new production facility

A new production facility of JSC Ship Repair Centre “Dalzavod” (Dalzavod Yard), part of Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Centre (FECSR, member of United Shipbuilding Corp.) has entered service, the dockyard press service said. The repairs facility was launched in mid-March in the framework of a large-scale modernization project and the first since the 1970s, carried out by FECSR.

The first repair service of rotors was performed at the balancing machines site of a turbodiesel shop (No 9). The new facility is equipped with the state-of-the-art software-controlled balancing machines. The equipment from the leading domestic manufacturers was delivered from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok early in the year. The dockyard's employees had undergone training before the facility commissioning. Machines allow to service all types of rotors with weight ranging between 6 kg and 8 tonnes.

"This enables us to perform equipment and diesel engines repairs of ships of all classes," said Igor Evdokimov, COO, Dalzavod Yard.

Besides, Dalzavod Yard has installed more than 30 units of new machinery and equipment delivered from the Republic of Belarus. StankoGomel-manufactured universal machines were delivered in early February and has been put into service. Two months earlier, Dalzavod Yard accepted a shipment of a dockside telescopic boom lifts and Skyjacke scissor lifts from Canada.

FECSR is implementing the modernization project to execute the state defense order worth of RUB 12.5 billion (as of 2014), since Russian Gov't had picked Dalzavod Yard as the sole sole contractor for warships overhaul for the Russian Defense Ministry. Since the beginning of 2014 the company has beefed up its workforce of 2500 people by 200 new employees. The Dalzavod dockyards have booked 100% defense and civil ship repair contracts.

The company also plans to build a slipdock for repair of diesel submarines and has developed a comprehensive project to upgrade Dalzavod Yard's facilities intended until 2019.
JSC Ship Repair Centre “Dalzavod” is a company formed by a merger JSC Dalzavod and JSC 178SRZ in 2011. The enterprises were founded for building and repairs of military and civilian fleet. In 2013 Dalzavod Yard repaired about 200 ships. The company handles all repair contracts for the Pacific Fleet.
