There are three fishermen reported missing in the Strait of Tartary, the local maritime rescue centre said.
The State Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre of Russian Transportation Ministry said that three fishermen in the village Trambauz (northern part of the Tatar Strait, north-west coast of Sakhalin Island) went out to sea on a speedboat.
The search and rescue operation is being conducted by an Emergencies Ministry's Mi-8 helicopter and teams scouring the offshore coastal strip. There are no positive results as yet, the centre said. All passing boats have been alerted.
