NOVATEK (Russia) and CNPC (China) have signed a contract on supply of 3 mln tns of LNG per year. According to Prime, the signing ceremony was held within the framework of an official visit of RF President Vladimir Putin to China.
“Last year we signed basic conditions and now we sign a final contract - 3 mln t”, Leonid Mikhelson, head of NOVATEK says.
LNG is to be supplied under Yamal LNG project. The contract provides for the development of South-Tambeyskoye field and construction of an LNG plant with the capacity of 16.5 mln t of LNG and 1 mln t of gas condensate per year.
The plant is to be built in three phases, 5.5 mln t of LNG each, with the first one to be put into operation in 2017. Yamal LNG is currently owned by NOVATEK (60%), TOTAL (20%) and CNPC (20%).
