Shipbuilding complex of Zvezda (Primorsk Territory) to be launched in 2022, Governor says
Shipbuilding complex of Zvezda plant (Primorsk Territory) is to be launched in 2022, press center of the Territory Government refers to Primorsk Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky as saying in a live television broadcast (State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company Vladivostok).
“I have written a letter to Rosneft President Igor Sechin to ask him order more vessels. We have demonstrated our ability to build. A large shipyard at Zvezda plant is next in turn but it will take time – its launch is scheduled for 2022. Meanwhile, we can build vessels today. It is easier to place others with us, not with foreign shipyards”, Vladimir Miklushevsky said.
On August 8, the head of the region participated in the ceremonial launching of ice-class tanker Sakhalin.
“It is a new shipbuilding era indeed ... The construction of the second vessel, the Primorje, is nearly completed and the order has been placed for the third vessel”, the Governor said.
According to him, the personnel of the shipyard which initially was intended for ship repair mastered many other professions. The Golden Bridge and half of the Russian Bridge was built of metal structures produced by Nakhodka shipyard which had to build barges to deliver those structures.
