Sea and mooring trials of landing craft Lieutenant Rimsky-Korsakov (Project 21820) built by Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant for Russia’s Baltic Fleet start at Baltijsk, press center of RF Ministry of Defence says.
Seafarers of the Baltic Fleet’s assault shipping naval unit in conjunction with the manufacturers will check the quality of assembling and functioning of all systems and mechanisms responsible for the boat’s operational readiness and crew life support. Besides, maneuver and speed trials will be held, military equipment will be checked and landing of wheel/track vehicles will be performed.
Upon completion of the manufacturer's trials the crew is to undergo the state trials before the Lieutenant Rimsky-Korsakov joins the Baltic Fleet and commences executing of her direct missions.
Landing crafts of the project 21820 are intended for high-speed transfer by sea and landing on an unequipped coast of human contingents, wheeled and tracked vehicles. High speed of the boat is ensured by the presence of the air cavity on the bottom, powerful diesel engines М507А-2D and ventilated water jet propellers.
Landing craft Lieutenant Rimsky-Korsakov has the following characteristics: full displacement - 280 t, LOA — 45 m, beam — 8.5 m, draught — 1.9 m, maximum speed with 0.75 m wave — 35 knots, maximum range — 500 nautical miles, cargo hold dimensions — 27х6.8х2.34 m, maximum capacity — 140 t.
