Agreements on large-scale modernization of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky seaport signed at investment forum

The Government of Kamchatka Territory and the Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) signed a number of agreements on reconstruction and development of port and berth facilities under large-scale modernization of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky seaport. The agreements were signed at the investment forum Far East -2014, says the press center of Kamchatka Government.

The first agreement provides for the reconstruction of berths No 1 and No 2 in the seaport of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. When upgraded, the berths will be able to handle from 3.5 to 8 mln t of cargo per year. The agreement on cooperation in this area was signed by Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin, Rosmorrechflot Head Aleksandr Davydenko, Rosmorport Director General Andrei Tarasenko and Director General of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Commercial Seaport Ivan Kapralov.

The federal budget allocates over RUB 3 bln for the construction of a passenger terminal and the reconstruction of berths. The construction is in process today, as well as the designing of berths.

The second agreement is signed by Kamchatka Government, Rosmorport and Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Commercial Seaport. It provides for the creation of the port and adjacent infrastructure including the federal property facilities for transshipment of at least 1 TEUs per year.

The third agreement is focused on the development of port infrastructure for cruise shipping in the Kamchatka Territory.

“These agreements are very important for us. They create a background for the revival of the port infrastructure which will be of demand in the future amid active use of the Northern Sea Route and for the creation of a port hub in Kamchatka. Private investments are to come together with the investments from the federal budget,” Kamchatka Governo said.
