BMT Consultants India (BMT), a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, announces its inaugural footprint in Oman by providing consultancy services for the prestigious fast ferry berthing facility at Hilf, Masirah Island, the company said in its press release.

Berth layout comprises of twin berths on either side of a pair of berthing dolphins that also function as mooring points.

Previously the islanders had no ferry service. The new facility serves two new roll-on/roll-off passenger (ROPAX) catamaran ferry vessels, considerably improving the quality of life for locals and visitors to the Island. The ferries are each capable of carrying up to 154 passengers plus either 38 cars, or four trucks and 28 cars, at speeds up to 15 knots. The two vessels operate several times a week between the ports of Masirah and Shannah (located on the Barr Al Hikman peninsula in Wilayat Mahout, Al Wusta Region).
