Krasnoye Sormovo lays down first serial dredging vessel for FSUE Rosmorport
Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard has laid down the first serial vessel for the dredging fleet of FSUE Rosmorport, IAA PortNews was informed by the shipyard. The series will consist of three trailing suction hopper dredgers intended for Ust-Luga, Big Port St. Petersburg and Tuapse.
Major tasks of the vessels which were practically not built by domestic shipyards before are to excavate and remove materials at waterways, at berths, port/off-harbour water areas, etc. Dredging and expansion of ports are of high economic significance as it allows for capacity expansion.
The contract for designing and construction of the vessels was signed in April 2014. The shipyard participated in the tender with a design developed by Damen (Denmark).
In December 2013, Krasnoye Sormovo (MNP Group) and Belgian company Dredging International NV (DEME Group) signed an agreement on cooperation.
Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards. It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
