Lauritzen Bulkers signs eight year contract on transportation of wood pellets
Last week Lauritzen Bulkers signed its longest contract ever with US based Green Circle Bio Energy involving transportation of 600,000 tonnes of wood pellets from the US to the UK and the European continent over the next eight years, the company said in its press release.
In 2012, Lauritzen Bulkers signed a similar contract with Green Circle Bio Energy for the transportation of wood pellets from the US to Europe for six years. Since then the business relationship between Green Circle Bio Energy and Lauritzen Bulkers has further developed.
Mr. Claus Stahl, Senior Vice President of Lauritzen Bulkers is very satisfied with the latest development in the close partnership “This is an important leg in our trading which we are pleased to expand,” he says and adds “this is also a cargo type and shipment size which fits very well with our modern fleet of handysize bulk carriers”.
From the beginning of the partnership with Green Circle it has been a constructive and value adding collaboration. For Lauritzen Bulkers, Green Circle is known as a reliable and trustworthy business partner – "A business attitude similar to our own," says Mr. Stahl and emphasizes that "Green Circle is always open for suggestions, modifications and always ready to engage in a open and constructive dialog, both in the day-to-day operational work but also during negotiations – always open-minded to find solutions."
Morten Neraas, CEO of Green Circle shares Mr. Stahl’s views on the collaboration “Green Circle is pleased to enter into another longer term ocean transportation contract with Lauritzen Bulkers, extending, expanding and strengthening an already ongoing and strong relationship,” says Mr. Neraas and elaborates on the reason for the close partnership: “We believe there is an excellent fit between Lauritzen Bulkers' considerable fleet of handysize bulk carriers and Green Circle’s need for these particular vessels. Lauritzen Bulkers’ value offering of flexible service at competitive prices will ensure that Green Circle will maintain a strong and enduring presence in the European industrial and residential market for wood pellets in the years to come”.
At the signing ceremony in Copenhagen last week Mr. Stahl concluded “Green Circle is not only a customer – Green Circle is a partner.”
Green Circle Bio Energy is an alternative fuel producing business based in Panama City, Florida, transporting wood pellets from the US to Europe. The company owns one of the world’s largest wood pellet plants.
