NOVATEK plans to place facilities for construction of FLNGs, subsea platforms in Murmansk region

JSC NOVATEK plans to deploy in the Murmansk region production facilities for construction of Floating Liquefied Natural Gas units (FLNGs), subsea platforms of drilling rigs, the region's Vice-Gov. Alexei Tyukavin said.

The official said that the company is ready to start designing as soon as the authorities allocate the necessary land.

The Murmansk region is also considering the creation of a shore-based facilities to support Arctic offshore projects of Rosneft. This includes conversion of the 82th ship repair yard into a shipyard that would build ships and construction of other facilities necessary for the development of the shelf.

OAO NOVATEK, founded in 1994 is currently the largest independent gas producer and the second-largest natural gas producer in Russia. The Company is principally engaged in the exploration, production, processing and marketing of natural gas and liquid hydrocarbons and have 20 years of operational experience in the Russian oil and natural gas sector. The Company's upstream activities  are concentrated in the prolific Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Region (YNAO) in Western Siberia. The YNAO is the most significant gas producing region in Russia, accounting for nearly 90% of Russia’s natural gas production and approximately 17% of global gas production.
