ECT receives world’s largest container ship

Last weekend, the CSCL Globe made her maiden call at the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam of ECT. With a capacity of 19,100 TEU and a length of 400 metres, the CSCL Globe of China Shipping Container Line is currently the largest container ship in the world, the company said in its press release.

The CSCL Globe calls twice at the Euromax Terminal, both at the start and at the end of its European trip. This makes ECT an attractive option for both importers and exporters.

The advent of the CSCL Globe marks the further increase in scale in the shipping sector; a development which is still ongoing. ECT is continuously investing in its terminals in order to quickly and efficiently handle the ever-larger vessels. Both the ECT Delta Terminal and the Euromax Terminal Rotterdam, where the CSCL Globe is currently moored, are perfectly equipped to handle the largest container ships in the world.

In addition to investments at the terminals, ECT also invests in the transport of containers to and from the European hinterland through subsidiary European Gateway Services. The larger volumes of containers carried by mega-ships also require good and sustainable logistics to the hinterland.
