RF Transport Ministry is set to fully implement the federal part of the project known as “Comprehensive Development of Murmansk Transportation Hub” and aimed at the creation of a round-the-year deep-water sea hub in Murmansk. According to the press center of Murmansk Region Government, this has been announced today by Deputy Transport Minister Victor Olersky at the working meeting with the Region Governor Marina Kovtun.
Victor Olersky says the Ministry does not consider any financial revision of the project. Within the framework of the general budget process the project can loose about 10%. However, the official says slight reduction is not to affect the project implementation.
“We work according to the schedule, preparatory blasting is underway near the bridge across the Tuloma river. I believe all the works under the project will be implemented within the scheduled 48 months or even faster. The crisis is a period of challenges, a time to build. Our task is to use this opportunity”, Victor Olersky said when speaking about the project implementation.
One of the key results of the project implementation is seen in the possibility to shift dust-forming port facilities beyond the city boundaries to an alternative territory on the western shore of the Kola Bay.
The parties also discussed the creation of a container line Murmansk – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The project on comprehensive development of Murmansk Transportation Hub is to be implemented by 2018. The project implies the construction of a railway line to the left shore of the Kola Bay (including two railway stations and a bridge across the bay) where private investors will build a coal terminal (Commercial Seaport Lavna). Besides, an oil terminal is to be built under the project.
