    Silver cargo handling result and revenue record achieved in Klaipėda Seaport in 2014

    Pursuant to preliminary data as of the 6th of January of the current year the throughput of Klaipeda Port in January – December of 2014 increased by 9,0 pct. -  totally 36,41 mln  tn of seaborne cargo, i.e. more by 3,0 mln tn comparing with the corresponding period of the previous year were handled, press center of the port Authority says.

    36,41 mln tn is the second best cargo handling result within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport. The best annual result was recorded in 2011 when 36,6 mln tn were handled.

    Basic cargo categories that determined the successful throughput of 2014 were as follows:
    -fertilizers – 11,9 mln tn were transhiped  (+39,2 pct. or 3,36 mln tn year-on-year);
    -containerised cargoes – 5,6 mln tn were handled ( +23,0 pct. or + 1,05mln tn year-on-year);
    - grain – 2,9 mln tn were handled (+27,9 pct. or 629,7 thou tn year-on-year).

    The turnover of the following cargo categories marked the decrease:
    -oil products – 6,2 mln tn were transhiped, i.e. less by 12,7 pct. or by 896,5 thou tn year-on-year;
    -raw and processed minerals, construction materials – 1,2 mln tn were handled, i.e. less by 44,9 pct.o r by 953,7 thou tn year-on-year).

    In 2014 the Seaport received 147,36 mln litas from port dues (42,68 Eur) -  i.e. more by 7 pct. comparing with 2013 (136,05 mln litas). It has been planned to collect 51,68 mln Euros in  2015. The amount of dues collected has increased due to vessels of larger parameters calling the Seaport.  Comparing with the number of vessels that entered the Seaport  five years ago the number of vessels reaching over  200 metres in length increased twice in 2014 (i.e. 465), in 2013 the number of such type of vessels was 382.

    Revenue received from the Port land lease accounted for the largest share of the overall amount of income: in 2014 the revenue from the Port land lease increased by 12 percent. In 2014 it was 23,97 mln litas (6,9 mln Euros), in 2013 it was 21,271 mln litas (6,2 mln Euros). The amount of revenue generated by the Port land lease has been consistently growing due to bigger depth alongside the quays, new Central Klaipeda Terminal and anew constructed and put into operation quays of  JSSC  „ Klaipedos Smelte“.

    The pending investments in the sum of  28,74 mln Euros + financial savings  in the sum of 3,31 mln Euros totally constitute 35,05 mln Euros (the plan was 38,73 mln Euros, implementation of investment plan including the financial savings accounts for 90 pct).

    In December the cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Seaport increased by 8,2 pct. to 2,99 mln tn (more by 227,0 thou. tn comparing with December of 2013).

    December of 2014 was marked by good results achieved in handling of fertilizers, oil, oil products, containerized cargoes and grain:
    - 816,7 thou. tn of fertilizers were  handled, i.e. +0,4 pct. or +2,9 thou tn comparing with December of 2013.

    - 611,7 thou. tn of oil products were transhiped, +13,3 pct. or 71,8 thou. tn yoy (the second result in the throughput of oil products achieved in 2014);

    - 459,8 thou. tn of containerized cargoes were handled (+25,8 pct. or +94,2 thou. tn comparing with December of 2013);

    - 334,4 thou. tn of grain were handled – it is the best grain handling result achieved in December within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport (the change was +38,0 pct. or +92,1 thou. tn comparing with December of 2013).
