UK rail companies interested in “Rail Baltica” project
UK rail companies working in international projects and providing rail infrastructure services such as planning, construction and management of innovative and sustainable railways met the representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry’s press center says. During the meeting, the companies had the possibility to learn more about Lithuania’s strategic project “Rail Baltica 2” and other rail projects implemented in the country.
“UK rail industry is valued for its contribution to implementing large-scale strategic projects. I have no doubt that expertise offered by the UK companies can be useful for Lithuania personally and the three Baltic States participating in the “Rail Baltica” project as well” said Saulius Girdauskas, Vice-Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania.
According to the Vice-Minister, the importance of “Rail Baltica 2” project is versatile. Once the project is implemented, Lithuania will be more integrated into the European Union and increase the economic security. For the representatives of businesses, the new European gauge will allow to ship goods to Europe and, thus, develop further their activities; the citizens will be offered a better quality, faster and safer travel across Europe.
