Prime Minister of Russia signs Decree on moving Arkhangelsk seaport’s boundaries

RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a Decree dated January 22’2015 No 68-r on moving the boundaries of the Arkhangelsk seaport.

According to the document published at the website of RF Government, the Decree drafted by the Russian Transport Ministry extends the port’s boundaries with a new water area in Severnaya Bay of the Dezhnyov Gulf that washes up on Alexandra Land Island of the Franz Josef Land Archipelago.

The water area obtains the status of an outer harbor of the Arkhangelsk seaport. It will be part of Russia’s functioning Arkhangelsk state sea border checkpoint. This is being done to organise border, customs and other types of control of marine passenger vessels that arrive at the Franz Josef Land Archipelago for tourism.

The decision will help attract more tourists to the Franz Josef Land Archipelago, which will have a positive impact on the region’s economy.
