The rail operator runs about twenty trips a week between Rotterdam’s terminals and the German hinterland. Following an exhaustive test programme, the first commercial call by rail was recently made and more trains will follow soon. Up to now, a substantial proportion of rail cargo has been transported to and from APMT2 via the Rail Service Center Waalhaven (RSC) by road. By calling at APMT2 directly, these costs can be avoided.
According to Distri Rail, productivity at the new terminal will be considerably higher than at the existing one. Distri Rail is also going to develop rail services with Ludwigshafen, Mannheim and Frankfurt.
