Taiwan based shipping and transportation conglomerate Evergreen Group signed a time-charter agreement with Shoei Kisen Kaisha Ltd., Japan for eleven ultra-large containerships of capacity of 18,000 TEU, local media reported.
The vessels will be built based on optimized, eco-friednly design featuring enhanced hull strength, fuel efficiency and increased capacity. The vessels' overall length will be 400 meters and breadth of 59 meters.
The CKYHE Alliance member, Evergreen will begin taking delivery of the chartered vessels in 2018 until 2019. The vessels will reportedly be operated by the Group's Evergreen Marine on the European container lines.
Previously, the Group had signed charter agreements for ten 14,000teu boxships, which will be delivered by 2017.
