In January 2015, seaport Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 3.83 mln t of cargo (+23%, year-on-year), says Center for Transport Strategies with reference to Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 403.5 mln t (+5.3%, year-on-year) including 254,000 t of chemical cargo (-8.5%), 92,000 t of vegetable oil (up 3.6 times) and 57,500 t of oil products (-28%).
Transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 3.37 mln t (+26.7%) including 528,000 t of coal (up 8.6 times), 2.002 mln t of ore (+32.8%), 123,000 t of fertilizers (-43.6%) and 601,000 t of grain (-19.5%).
Transshipment of packaged cargo totaled 63,000 t (-17.2%, year-on-year).
Container throughput hit 4,671 TEUs (+16.8%)
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
