Viking Supply Ships gets contract to operate Swedish Maritime Authorities ice-breaker fleet

Viking Supply Ships has been awarded a management contract to operate the SMA ice-breaker fleet for a period of seven years. The contract is a continuation of a current management which commenced in 2000. The contract is done at market terms, the company said in its press release.

The contract with the Swedish Maritime Authorities is considered to be a strategically important contract for Viking Supply Ships, and further confirms the company’s position as one of the world’s leading operators of ice-breakers and offshore vessels designed for arctic and harsh environments. The company now operates a fleet of five state-owned ice-breakers, three ice-breaking AHTS vessels, four ice-class 1A AHTS vessels and in addition five PSVs and one AHTS.
