AX3 service has recently run out of schedule caused by delays (unusually strong fog and rough weather conditions for this time of the year) and closure of the port of Houston for several days (chemical spill off a foreign vessel and a collision of two competitors’ vessels),Hapag-Lloyd said in its press release.
Additionally, the berth capacity in Houston was limited caused by ongoing terminal reconstruction and ad hoc repairs needed to be done on a vessel.
In order to get back to schedule, the Charleston Express (voyage 029W) will slide three weeks and will call European ports in week 23.
After this corrective action, Hapag-Lloyd ships will be back to their reliable normal long term schedule.
