Port of Rotterdam commissions Quintiq to build the intelligent planning tool BREIN

An important goal for Nextlogic is to improve the match between demand and supply of handling capacity of inland container shipping. From 2017, the planning tool BREIN will allocate terminal and depot slots in the port of Rotterdam in a neutral way, make an integrated plan and take account of up-to-date changes, Port of Rotterdam Authority said in its press release.

The seaport terminals, depots for empty containers, inland shipping operators, hinterland terminals, shipping companies, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Ministry of Transport are cooperating intensively to improve the operational chain of inland container shipping. The development of Nextlogic is now in an important phase. This year, those who operate terminals, inland shipping services and depots for empty containers can put the initial functionalities into practice. These will immediately give them a clearer picture of the status of containers, calls, voyages and handling capacity.

After starting this year, the construction of planning stool BREIN will take up a large part of 2016. A large-scale practical trial is planned for the beginning of 2017.
