Coal exports via Rosterminalugol terminal rose 17% in H1 to more than 8 million tonnes

Shipments of export coal from the Ust-Luga-based Rosterminalugol terminal between January and June this year have reached 8,070,448 tonnes, or up 17% on H1 2014, the terminal operator said in a press release.

In June coal throughput at the facility reached 1,206,405 tonnes. Handling of dry bulk carriers increased by 6% year-on-year to 135 vessels (2014 - 127).

In June the coal terminal operator unloaded a record number of rail cars for the six-month period. Rosterminalugol handled: 21,185 cars, which represents a 19% increase from the same period in 2014. The coal discharge monthly record in June was 451,823 cars per 12hr-shift.

Overall, in the six-month period Rosterminalugol unloaded 116,181 railcars laden with 8,131,323 tonnes of coal.

JSC Rosterminalugol was established in 1996 to build and operate the coal terminal at Port of Ust-Luga. The terminal’s projected annual coal throughput is 8 million tons. The Company specializes in loading / unloading operations, freight forwarding services, building and maintenance of facilities at the coal terminal. The company also provides insurance services for cargoes and property, the risks of transactions at Ust-Luga port. The terminal has two berths of total length of 540 meters with depth of 14 meters. The terminal is able now to accommodate vessels of up to 240 m in length and 32 m in breadth. In 2014, coal exports through the terminal rose 5% YOY to 15.45 million tonnes.
