On July 8, 2015, Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation) laid down a passenger catamaran of Project 23290 (Hull No 710). The construction will be supervised by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the Register’s press center says.
The hull will be built of composite material (carbon fibre composite) which ensures high air- and hydrodynamic characteristics, light weight, innovative design and considerable reduction of construction terms.
The project of the catamaran was designed by the Central Design Bureau Neptune. Class notation: KM✪ [2] MHC HSC Passenger-A of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
Characteristics: LOA – 25.00 m; beam – 9.50 m; Full displacement – 66.00 t; speed max – 29.3 knots; passengers – 150.
The catamaran is intended for transportation of tourists at local water routs. The delivery is scheduled for late December 2016.
OJSC Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard (Saint-Petersburg), a part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, was created in 1912. The shipyard has built over 500 warships and vessels of 43 designs for the Russian Navy and foreign customers. The shipyard is building missile boats, trawlers, passenger and work vessels for various purposes and is about to start the large-scale construction of mine warships of the new generation for the Russian Navy and foreign countries.
