Eurasian Economic Union and Silk Road Economic Belt are not contradictory, Vladimir Putin says
The plans on the development of Russia’s infrastructure and the Eurasian Economic Union are compatiable with the Chinese project for a Silk Road Economic Belt, Vladimir Putin said at the news conference following the BRICS and SCO summits. According to him, this issue was discussed and in different formats – both at limited attendance and expanded meetings.
«We believe that these two projects are compatible and not contradictory... The Silk Road Economic Belt projects and our plans for the development of Tran-Siberian Railway and the Baikal-Amur Railway and some of our other projects in the EAEU obviously require joint efforts. We are actively discussing ways of doing this and I’m confident we’ll find them,” Vladimir Putin said.
