Cargo volume handled at the terminals of Estonian Port of Tallinn in January – June 2015 dropped by 20.7% on H1 2014 figures to 12.09 million tonnes, the Port Authority, stats said.
Container traffic also declined by 22.7% to 101,076 TEUs.
Six-month volume of bulk cargo rose to 1,326,200 tonne, up 8.3% from a year earlier, while liquid bulk segment showed a 30.6-percent slump, to 7,387,800 tonnes. Handling of rolling cargo increased by 9.2%.
Passenger traffic at the port fell by 0.6% to 4,395,600 people. The number of ship calls increased by 2.7% to 3469 vessels.
Port of Tallinn ranks third among largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2014 throughput at Tallinn port totaled 28.32 million tonnes.
