Project on construction of icebreakers for Novoportovskoye field included into state support programme
Interagency committee under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has selected four information projects for participation in the programme for support of RF investment projects through project financing. According to to the Ministry, the list includes the project on construction of support icebreakers of icebreaker-8 class. Under the project, USC shipyards are to build two icebreaking supply ships intended for round-the-year operation at the Arctic oil terminal at Cape Kamenny (Yamal). The project valued at RUB 17.43 bln requires RUB 13.94 bln of loan funds.
The new icebreakers of Aker ARC 130 A design being built by Vyborg Shipyard are about 121.7 m long overall and have a main deck of 26 m in breadth (including fendering structures) and design draft of 8m. The vessels have a diesel-electric power plant and the combined propulsion power of the three azimuth thrusters is 21.5 MW (2 х 7,500 kW (stern) and 1 х 6,500 kW(bow)). The new icebreakers will fly the flag of the Russian Federation .
The vessels of Icebreaker8 class are designed to break 2-metre level ice at a rather small draught. According to the contract, the vessel are designed to be operated all year round at temperatures up to -50 Co. The icebreakers are to be delivered before 2018.
