Baltic Fleet Smolny training ship is passing the Turkish Straits (photo)
The Baltic Fleet Smolny training ship, which was performing a long-distance cruise for sea training of the MoD and civil university cadets, started passing the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits, says the press center of Russia’s Western Military District..
After passing the straits, the ship will lay the course to Sevastopol. The ship has already paid four visits to foreign ports, including Las Palmas and Malabo.
The long-distance cruise of the training ship is taking place in course of sea practice of cadets of higher educational establishments of military and civil departments. They represent Admiral F. Ushakov Baltic Naval Institute, cadets of Peter the Great Naval Corps, Naval Technological Institute, Admiral P. Nakhimov Black Sea Naval High Military School, Naval State Technical University. More than 300 cadets are participating in the cruise in total.
The Baltic Fleet Smolny training ship left Kronshtadt on July 3.
