Krasnoye Sormovo launches seventeenth tanker of Project RST 27 (photo)
On September 10, Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard (Nizhny Novgorod, United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched chemical tanker Victoria of improved Project RST27 for ISR Trans, the shipyard’s press center says.
The new tanker can carry a wide range of oil products and chemical cargoes including additional line of methanol products.
Tankers of Project RST27 are self-propelled ships of Volgo-Don Max class intended for mixed (sea and river) transportation of liquid bulk cargo.
The new chemical carrier is a ship upgraded for transportation of a wide range of products. Project RST27 was essentially revised by Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa). Detailed design was developed by Volgo - Caspian Design Bureau and engineering center of Krasnoye Sormovo. New class notation - КМ (*) Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker /Chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
Vessel’s characteristics: Sea / river DWT – 6,980 /5,400 tonnes with draft of 4.2 / 3.6 m. LOA - 140.85 m, beam - 16.86 m, depth - 6 m. Operational speed – 10.5 knots.
The chemical tanker RST27 is the third ship ordered from Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard by ISR Trans.
The ceremony was held at the time to coincide with the opening of the 4th International Business Summit in Nizhny Novgorod.
The event was attended by Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev, USC Vice-President Yevgeny Zagorodniy, Krasnoye Sormovo Director General Nokolai Zharkov, MNP Group Director General Dmitry Khritin, representatives of the customer and other industry experts.
Under the contract, the tanker will be delivered to the customer in October 2015.
MNP Group (Marine Oil & Gas Projects) engaged is the Company Manager of shipbuilding projects. The Group comprises shipbuilding and ship design companies based.
Krasnoye Sormovo OJSC is one of Russia's oldest shipyards. It was founded in 1849. In 2011, it entered the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The shipyard is Russia’s leader in construction of civil river and sea-and-river going vessels. Some of Krasnoye Sormovo ships are in the list of Significant Ships of RINA (Royal Institution of Naval Architects).
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 60 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates about 80% of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
