Terex Deutschland GmbH loader (Germany) that meets all modern requirements and is equipped according to the best European samples of port machinery, has recently started operating at NIBULON’s export transshipment terminal, press center of NIBULON says.
The crane, intended for loading different bulk cargoes, was purchased by NIBULON in order to transport 3 million tons of grain per year along the Dnipro and the Southern Bug.
Fuchs MHL 385 D has successfully transshipped 1.6 thousand tons of corn from NBL-005 non-self-propelled vessel on road transport and then aboard OCEAN PEARL motor vessel (flag: Cuba) that was bound for United Arab Emirates with Ukrainian cargo. It should be mentioned that the modern crane unloaded a barge in a record time - only within 4.5 hours. It would take GANZ portal crane (16 tons) three more hours to carry out this operation.
At present the portable grab crane has been involved in transshipping 2.5 thousand tons of food wheat from NIBULON’s barges NBL-014, BN-02, BN-03 aboard WADI SUDR vessel (Egypt). In addition, while unloading BN-02 and BN-03, Fuchs operated both in grab mode and hook mode in order to lift pontoon covers of the above-mentioned barges. It coped with the task.
“At present this machinery will be used to load and unload vessels at NIBULON’s export terminal in Mykolayiv as well as other terminals of the company located along the Dnipro and the Southern Bug”, tells Andriy Gorchenok, a chief fleet dispatcher at the shipping company. “The loader will operate together with the non-self-propelled floating crane in the Dnipro Reservoir area soon. Fuchs MHL 385 D will complete the loading of vessels”.
− The crew consists of 4 specialists being able to ensure around-the-clock transshipment of any bulk cargoes, thereby quickening unloading of grain in 1.5 times. Professionals perform an unloading cycle in 20 seconds; thus, they can load a 35-tonne truck within 5-6 minutes. The machinery’s capacity reaches 7.2 thousand tons per day”.
Its technical characteristics: engine power – 273 kWt; weight – 74 tons and 75.5 tons together with the grab; first speed – up to 8 km per hour; grab mode – 5 m³, hook carrying capacity − 20 tons; capacity – 350-400 tons per hour.
At present NIBULON shipbuilding and repair yard is constructing the non-self-propelled floating crane (С14938). The shipbuilders have already formed the vessel’s strength hull. NIBULON plans to put it into operation in December 2015.
