EUROGATE invests in Brazilian provider of intermodal container transport solutions

EUROGATE has acquired 16.67 per cent of CONTRAIL Logistica S.A., located in Cubatão, Brazil, a provider of intermodal transport solutions in the hinterland of Santos. Santos is Brazil’s largest sea port and, with over 3.6 million TEU handled here last year, it is South America’s largest container port. CONTRAIL Logistica is planning to expand its intermodal network, involving its own inland terminal, for the Santos – São Paulo – Campinas and São José dos Campos corridor. The focus will be on the shift of container traffic from the roads to the rail. More than 30 per cent of Brazil’s gross domestic product is generated in the state of São Paulo.

EUROGATE has the option to acquire an additional 16.67 per cent at any time by 30 June 2018 and to increase its share to a total of 33.34 per cent.

CONTRAIL Logistica S.A. was established in 2010 by the shareholders Lopex Participações Ltda and BTG Pactual Infraestrutura II Fundo de Investimento em Participações. The company operates its own inland terminals and uses the rail infrastructure from the provider MRS Logistica S.A.
