Utilization of Nakhodka Ship Repair Yard’s facilities makes 60-70% of capacity

Utilization of Nakhodka Ship Repair Yard’s facilities makes 60-70% of their capacity, NSRY Chief Technologist Aleksei Gerus told IAA PortNews at the international exhibition “Innovation Day of the Russian Ministry of Defence – 2015”.

“Most orders come from two companies, both are our long-time business partners. First of all, it is FMS Technologies, one of Sakhalin-2 operators, for which NSRY manufactures metal structures for subsea infrastructure”, Aleksei Gerus said.

“This order features special engineering requirements as the guaranteed life of such structures should last for 25 years. Therefore, engineering takes up to a half a year. Our cooperation with FMS has been based on regular orders for different structures and we expect them to come regularly in the future. As for the production volumes, they have increased considerable in 2015 primarily due to the import substitution policy,” NSRY representative explained.

The other large customer is the coal terminal of Vostochny Port JSC. Besides, NSRY produces structures for a nuclear store at Cape Ustrichny (Primorsky Territory) under the order of FSUE RosRAO.

As for shipbuilding, NSRY currently has one large scale project: in cooperation with Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center it is building two 3,000DWT tankers. The first ship has entered the phase of equipment delivery and completing with components, the other one is under elaboration.

“When it comes to ship repair, our key customer if the Defence Ministry, - tells Aleksei Gerus. – On of the latest projects is the hospital ship Irtysh. Besides, we have some minor orders from the owners of civil ships, mostly fishing vessels.

Nakhodka Ship Repair Yard OJSC is a company with a diversified production including not only shipbuilding and ship repair, but also manufacturing and assembling of metal structures, providing of handling services, transportation of its products and other cargoes.
