Hydroengineering complex Kuzminsk commences normal operation (photo)
Water discharge dam and administrative facilities of hydroengineering complex Kuzminsk, Oka river, were put into operation on October 16, 2015, press center of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) says. The reconstruction of Kuzminsk facilities has been under the state project on reconstruction of infrastructure facilities at Moscow Canal.
The customer of works is FSBI Moscow Canal, designer – Aquatic CJSC, general contractor – Stal LLC.
The completion of the first phase of works allows for dismantling of old facilities built almost a century ago and to proceed to reconstruction of hydroengineering complex Beloomut, some 50 km upstream.
Hydroengineering complex Kuzminsk ensures navigable depth at a 50-kilometer long part of Oka river up to hydroengineering complex Beloomut. It Is a part of the system which also includes hydroengineering facilities on Moskva river and links Moscow with Nizhny Novgorod and Volga region by Oka and Volga rivers. The new facilities will let recover the water level which had been decreasing for a 40-year period.
