River fleet of Transneft Far East, LLC is supplemented with three multipurpose boats, Transneft says. The main purpose of the boats is oil spills containment on water surface.
The boats were given names TFE-1, TFE-2 and TFE-3 (TFE - Transneft Far East) and passed three-day trial trip in the river Amur, where testing of their oil-gathering systems was conducted.
The boats were purchased for the purpose of increasing environmental safety of rivers and coastal areas upon exploitation of underwater crossings. The boats are equipped with modern oil-gathering equipment, devices for turning of side booms – six meter long booms on the boat borders, two spools for installation of 200 m booms.
Capacity of two six-cylinder diesel engines of each water craft is equal to 1,800 cycles per minute, which secures high efficiency of the built-in oil skimmers (gathering up to 70 cubic meters of contaminations per hour) and allows working on rivers with swift water (up to 5 meters per second).
The boats are multipurpose: besides elimination of possible oil spills, risk of which is minimal, they may be used for water area clearing from rubbish, as well as for freight transportation or for patrol and inspection purposes.
In daily activities the boats will be involved, first of all, in planned trainings and drills of subdivisions of Transneft Far East, LLC as regards environmental safety securing.
Taking into account the boats put into service, the river fleet of Transneft Far East, LLC at the present time consists of 42 water crafts, including a self-propelled barge, high speed crafts and boom-laying boats.
