The first meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Development of the Northern Territories and the Arctic established by Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) held within the 4th Murmansk International Business Week approved the Statute and the membership of the Council, says the press center of the Murmansk Region Government.
Besides, the meeting was dedicated to important issues of the investment and social-economic development of the Northern and Arctic territories in order to work out RSPP proposals by the next meeting of the State Commission on Arctic Development.
According to Aleksei Tyukavin, First Vice Governor of the Murmansk Region, active involvement of the business community should contribute to “deeper respect of its interests at the federal level”. He also emphasized that the business community of the Murmansk Region is a real player in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
The Council is chaired by Sergey Frank, President and CEO of OAO Sovcomflot, member of RSPP Board.
Key purpose of the Council is to integrate the efforts of RSPP units in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation on handling general issues of social and economic, investment, scientific and technical development of the Far North and Arctic territories.
