Number of safe mooring berths increased in Kaliningrad seaport (photo)
North-Western Basin Branch of FSUE Rosmorport provides the access to Berth No 81 in addition to other five berths of Rosmorport being used for safe mooring and handling operations at the port of Kaliningrad, the Company’s press center says.
60-meter long berth is available for vessels of up to 40 meters in length and up to 6.8 meters in draught.
The port of Kaliningrad, the only ice-free Baltic port of Russia lies in the south-east of the Baltic Sea. Its berths with the total length of 17 kilometers are located on the northern side of the Kaliningrad seaway canal and in the mouth of Pregol river with the adjacent harbors.
The territory of Kaliningrad seaport consists of four cargo districts: Kaliningrad cargo district, Svetlovsky cargo district, Baltic cargo district and Pionersky terminal. Kaliningrad seaway canal was built over 100 years ago to let vessels come to the berths within the city of Kaliningrad. The canal’s length is 43 km, width - 50-80 m, depth - 9 to 10.5 m. 200-meter long vessels with the draught of up to 8 m can pass the canal, while 22.6 km long part of the canal is deep enough for vessels of up to 9.4 m in draught and up to 30,000 t in capacity.
