Five shipping companies appoint Verifavia to assess their organisations for MRV readiness

Five shipping companies have enlisted the support of emissions verification company, Verifavia, in ensuring they comply with new carbon emission regulations.

MRV Regulation 2015/757 came into force on 1 July 2015 and from 2018, operators of ships exceeding 5,000gt will be required to monitor, report and submit independently verified carbon emissions on all voyages to, from and between EU ports.

To meet this requirement DFDS Seaways, Euronav Ship Management, NEDA Maritime Agency, Seaspan Ship Management and Synergy Maritime have appointed Verifavia to assess their organisations for MRV readiness.

Verifavia’s audit will comprise assessing each company’s existing data accounting procedures and systems, and transmission and transformation procedures, reviewing voyages, fuel and cargo data collection, and performing preliminary analysis of carbon emissions and activity data.
