Results of the finished training year concluded in RF Navy's Pacific Fleet

On November 26, a meeting of the Military Board took place in the Pacific Fleet headquarters in Vladivostok, during which practice and combat activities of the Northern Fleet in the finished training year were assessed, and future missions were set, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.

Before the meeting opened, the Fleet Commander Admiral Sergei Avakyanz gave state and department awards to distinguished officers; the best formations and units received cups and prizes. In particular, this year the PF has won 5 combat training prizes given out by the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

As Sergei Avakyanz noted, all planned training sessions were completed in full and with high quality.

NF ships and vessels practiced more than 600 combat exercises, took part in over 100 training sessions on different levels, completed over 150 course missions, and carried out more than 500 missile, artillery and torpedo fires, mine layings and bomb-releases.

The Fleet’s naval aviation took part in 9 practice flight trainings including those with unmanned aerial vehicles.

More than 80 tactical exercises were held for the Coast Guard; Marines carried out around 6 thousand parachute jumps of different difficulty. Moreover, IFV crews became the winners of the international “Suvorov onslaught” contests and won the first and the second place in the “Baltic derby-2015”.

This year PF servicemen took part in the large-scale “Naval cooperation-2015”, which was held in the Sea of Japan and in Primorye, employed surface ships, aviation and marine units.

This year PF ship crews completed important missions in the Southern part of the Pacific Ocean.

Following the international military cooperation plan, PF sailors visited ports in Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and China.

It is necessary to emphasize the increased scientific role of fleet hydrographists. A lot of scientific research was conducted not only in the Arctic region but also in the Southern seas of the Pacific Ocean.

The issue of modernization and employment of new hardware is gradually being solved. This year the Fleet received the Alexander Nevsky strategic submarine cruiser, the Ivan Kartsov amphibious boat, the Alexander Piskunov sea tugboat, two Grachyonok anti-sabotage boats and several auxiliary boats. Coastal facilities received a Bal missile system; S-300 AA missile systems were replaced by S-400 Triumph systems. Naval aviation in Primorye and Kamchatka received four modernized Il-38N anti-boat aircraft.
