Russian shipbuilding needs additional resources for development, Aleksandr Potapov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, told IAA PortNews at the preliminary meeting dedicated to the development of Russia’s shipbuilding industry.
Among the meeting participants were the heads of federal executive authorities, representatives of customers and shipbuilding companies.
In his keynote speech Aleksandr Potapov said the sanctions imposed on Russia affected domestic shipbuilding in 2015. The industry had to face the challenges and to respond promptly to the situation. In view of import substitution, Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with other federal executive authorities had to revise the state programme “Development of Shipbuilding and Equipment for Offshore Projects in 2016 – 2030”.
In general, domestic shipbuilding is able to cope with the challenges of military and civil shipbuilding, Aleksandr Potapov believes. Yet, further efforts should be applied by the state authorities and shipyards to secure additional resources for the industry development. Aleksandr Potapov says the issue will be discussed at the coming meeting.
