The issue of possible inspections initiated by Rosstandart (Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology) in respect of ships and shipboard systems was discussed by Aleksandr Shadrin, Director of Palmali’s representative office in Moscow, with Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich and Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov, IAA PortNews correspondent reports from the IX International Forum "Transport of Russia".

According to Aleksandr Shadrin, the shipping company received the notice of Rosstandart on inspection of all shipboard measuring devices (gauges) in early November. Yet, he says this inspection is outside the bounds of law. Under RF legislation, Rosstandart watchdog is not on the list of federal bodies authorized for fleet inspections.

RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov is going to look into the issue personally.
