Total throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport is forecasted to reach 14.52 mln t this year (-10.2%, year-on-year). As the stevedoring company told IAA PortNews, the decrease should be attributed primarily to the change in the types of cargo handled at the port.

Coal still makes the bulk of cargo flows. Coal transshipment is to reach 13.6 mln t (-2.2%, year-on-year).

Starting from 2015, apatite concentrate is handled by Murmansk Bulk Terminal LLC, while general cargo and containers of Norilsk Nickel are handled at the berths of the company’s own branch in Murmansk.

At the same time, Murmansk Commercial Seaport has efficiently replaced the lost coastal trade cargo with construction cargoes intended for port Sabetta and Yamal LNG plant being built on the Yamal peninsula. This year, Murmansk Commercial Seaport is going to carry 400,000 t of cargo in this direction including 100,000 t of general cargo.

Imports of Murmansk Commercial Seaport are expected to show a 35-pct increase, year-on-year. Magnanese ore makes the bulk of the company’s imports.

Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC was established in 1994. The port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in draught and over 265 meters in length.
