Yury Trutnev says first 18 investors determined for Kamchatka PDA (photo)

First 18 investors have been determined for the Priority Development Area ‘Kamchatka’, press center of Kamchatka Territory Government cites Yury Trutnev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, as saying at the meeting dedicated to PDA issues.

During his 2-day visit to the Kamchatka Territory, Yury Trutnev held a number of meetings with the representatives of regional and federal authorities, Far East Development Corporation, Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East and business community”.  

“There are 18 investors of within the PDA already. It is a good sign as it potentially means 18 new enterprises” Yury Trutnev said after the meeting. He reminded about the plans to allocate RUB 42 bln within the coming three years for the development of PDA infrastructure and support of investment projects in the Far East. According to him, the priority will be given to first investors entering the PDA as its residents.

According to Kamchatka Territory Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin, 11 companies with the total volume of investments of almost RUB 18 bln have already applied for obtaining the status of PDA residents with 7 more residents getting ready to apply. They are to invest some RUB 16 bln. The head of the region says construction of the engineering infrastructure is to commence in 2016. He reminded that federal allocations are to make about RUB 5.7 bln with the regional and municipal budgets to invest over RUB 2.7 bln.

“Our budget provides allocations of over RUB 700 mln in 2016 and almost RUB 2 bln in 2017”, Vladimir Ilyukhin said.

RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on establishment of Kamchatka PDA on August 28, 2015. Kamchatka PDA will be established at eight major investment sites of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Yelizovo agglomerations. Total area is to make 2,246 hectares.

Kamchatka PDA is to ensure the creation of a tourism and recreation cluster, state-of-the-art industry complexes and container transit hub port to accumulate and handle of containers transported along the Northern Sea Route. In particular, modernization of port Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is to boost its annual throughput to 8 mln t. Cruise tourism development will be supported with the construction of dedicated berths, a passenger terminal and other infrastructure facilities. The project provides for creation of a resort area Paratunka, hotel and recreation complexes in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, airport development. The list of residents will also include agricultural companies set to establish greenhouse complexes.

The forecasts say new PDA will ensure the increase the flow of tourists from 61,000 persons in 2014 to 820,000 persons by 2025.
